i-Tree Workshop: Teaching with i-Tree

This session looks at Project Learning Tree’s new Teaching with i-Tree curriculum, designed for use with middle and high school students, incorporating hands-on activities that engage students in discovering and analyzing the many environmental benefits that trees provide. Students use the free, online i-Tree Design software-developed by the research community and the Davey Institute- to calculate the dollar value of the benefits provided by a tree or a set of trees. In the process, they are exploring the ways in which trees and green spaces are vital elements in the human ecosystem.

i-Tree is a state-of-the-art, peer-reviewed software suite that provides urban forestry analysis and benefits assessment tools. The i-Tree Tools help communities of all sizes to strengthen their urban forest management and advocacy efforts by quantifying the structure of community trees and the environmental services that trees provide.
